Mark your calendars now because on Sunday July 29, 2001 at Famoso Raceway located in Bakersfield, CA, fans will be treated to the summer’s most anticipated event, the World Famous Battle of the Imports and Mothers Polishes Import Auto Tour Car Show.

Did you say Drag Race and Car Show? That’s right folks. In addition to the pavement pounding, noise making, and crowd-pleasing drag race action, fans will be treated to the finest show cars on the West coast. The Mothers Polishes Import Auto Tour car show offers competitors 21-classes and categories for imports, modern compacts, trucks and even SUV’s. So get your Mothers Polish “Showtime” out and start waxing because on Sunday you may be one of the winners to possibly be featured in an upcoming issue of Import Tuner Magazine.

In less than 10-days, Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, CA, will be transformed into an Import and Sport Compact drag racing mecca. Located conveniently between both southern and northern California, racers and fans from both the north and south will be able to participate in this summer's most highly anticipated West coast event. Racers will be able to post quicker E.T.’s and higher MPH numbers than what was recently posted at Round-3 at LACR. Fans will be able to enjoy the entire event from the huge grandstands at Famoso, where every seat is a good seat. In addition, the fans will appreciate plenty of free parking, larger asphalted pit areas, bigger concession stands, the absence of wind and dirt, but most importantly, the restroom facilities. That's right! Real bathrooms that have running water and flushing toilets - I'm sure the girlfriends, the wives, and all the single ladies can appreciate this...

Fans will also be treated to some of the most exciting drag racing action ever seen on the West coast. Adam Saruwatari, driver of the brand new Nitto Tires sponsored Acura NSX drag car and Mazda RX7, will be on hand with his brand new 53’ semi-tractor trailer and his entire stable of exotic machines. Jimmy O'Connor (Venom Racing) driving the brand new 900-horsepower Toyota Truck, will be searching for low 7-second time slips earning him the title of the World’s Quickest and Fastest “Door-slammer”. We can’t forget about the K&N sponsored Ford Focus driven by “Turbo” Joe Morgan looking to break the 8-second barrier.

In the very competitive Venom Racing Pro-Street Class, Shawn Hillier (Monterey Park, CA) piloting the L'Natural Honda CRX will be defending his current title as the Quickest and Fastest "All-Motor" FWD in the world. There will be plenty of racers that will be looking to de-throne the San Gabriel Valley native. Racers like Bisi Ezerioha (Matrix Racing), Teren King (RS Motorworks), Erick Aguilar (Erick's Racing), Norman Aubry (Erick's Racing), and Chris Sharma (Dan’s Shop) will be crashing gears to get to the finish line first.

The Turbo Magazine Pro-Import Class will definitely have the fans on their feet. These FWD vehicles are turbocharged, nitrous injected, or even both and are netting well over 600 HP to the front wheels and over well over 500 FT-LB's of torque! Racers like Adrian Sabori (JG/Edlebrock), Jojo Callos (JG/Edlebrock), Roger Scalise (Speedcamp), and Jimmy O'Connor (Venom Racing) will be battling others for a spot in the elite 8-car field in hopes to make "the Big Show" and walk away with BIG MONEY!

The Hottest Show Cars on the West coast Invade Bakersfield

The Mothers Polishes Import Auto Tour Car Show, sponsored by Import Tuner Magazine, SPW, and Venom Performance, will be offering 21-classes and categories for owners of imports, modern compacts, trucks and even SUV's to compete for HUGE trophies and a chance to be featured on Speedvision in November of this year. With Famoso Raceway being such a large venue, car clubs from southern, central, and northern California are expected to definitely sellout the 250-car entry cut off.

Local merchant Air Werks will treat fans to some of the baddest show cars on air bags. Fans will also be able to see the famous Yellow Honda Civic HB show car built and owned by industry leader, L.J. Garcia (Ichibahn Motorsports), and on display in the Street Glow booth will be the famous green Mitsubishi Eclipse featured in the recent movie, “The Fast and the Furious”.

Car clubs from southern California like Team Insight, led by Diana Valdez, will be representing her car club along with other show winning car clubs like Hybrid, HDS, Interspeed, and many more!
