The 7-second club has never looked better. Abel Ibarra
(Riverside, CA) leads the camp with the newly sponsored K&N Filters Mazda
RX7 and Mazda R100. Right on his heels is the hard charging Venom Toyota Tundra
(Stanton, CA), Escort Racing Nissan 300ZX (Saitama, Japan), and the Area 51
Lexus SC300 (Irvine, CA). The A&L Racing Acura NSX piloted by Adam
Saruwatari (Arroyo Grande, CA), is looking to better his 7.70-second time slip
while Stephan Papadakis (Anaheim Hills, CA) and the AEM Drag Civic tries to
prove to the world that a FWD is capable of a 7-second E.T. Presently,
Papadakis campaigns the quickest and fastest FWD in the world (8.0-seconds @
180-MPH). Shaun Carlson (Ontario, CA) driving the Meguiar's Ford Focus has a
new engine and transmission combination that should net a possible 7-second
E.T. Ray Lochhead (Brentwood, CA) driving the SR Motorsports RX7 is hot and
bothered to take out the lighting quick and consistent Papadakis in the
Pro-Modified Class.
In the newly
sponsored Venom Pro-Import Class presented by Turbo Magazine, Adrian Sabori
(Los Angeles, CA) and Jojo Callos (Long Beach, CA) will be returning to defend
their one-two finish at the 2001 season finale against the hot shoe of Lisa
Kubo (Rosemead, CA) driving the Nitto Tires Honda Civic. While Kubo may be a
favorite at the season opener, she has plenty of competition against veteran
racers like Myles Bautista (N. Hollywood, CA) driving the Rev Hard Honda Civic,
Bruce Mortenson (Alta Loma, CA) driving the Venom Honda Civic, Roger Scalise
piloting the SpeedCamp.com Honda Civic. Any one of these drivers could be the
next member to join the 8-second club.
The newly sponsored ACT Clutches Pro-Street Class has veteran racer
Shawn Hillier (Woodland Hills, CA) piloting the World's quickest and fastest
normally aspirated FWD Honda (10.680-seconds) defending his 2001 season finale
win against other "All-Motor Maniacs" like Jarrod Silvers (Agoura Hills, CA)
driving the Silvers Racing Honda CRX, Scott Kelly (Anaheim, CA) driving the
Toyo Tires VW Fastback, Bisi Ezerioha (Hacienda Heights, CA), Erick Aguilar
(Torrance, CA), Norman Aubry (Los Angeles, CA) and many more. Famoso Raceway is
primed and ready to accomodate eight qualifying spots with all 10-second
entries. Recently, Erick Aguilar blasted a 10.682-second E.T. and is ready to
set the record straight against L'Natural Racing.
